Hello, GDP!

Hello, GDP!

rebrand

TL;DR

We are rebranding Karak to OpenGDP. OpenGDP reflects our mission to make the world’s economies programmable. Nothing changes for existing users today other than the brand and URLs. Redirects are live. A dedicated OpenGDP Devnet announcement with dates and tutorials follows next.

Why the change

Karak started as an ambitious experiment in secure, high-performance crypto infrastructure and security. The scope grew. Our customers and community want a single base layer that can tokenize real economies, trade and settle natively, and coordinate at an institutional scale.

OpenGDP says what we do on the tin: an open, neutral base layer where GDP becomes programmable.

What changes today

  • Name and domains: Karak → OpenGDP. Official site, docs, and socials now live under the OpenGDP brand.
  • Visual identity: New wordmark, color system, and brand kit for partners and media.
  • Messaging: Clear product pillars across tokenization, exchange, and coordination.

What stays the same

  • Compatibility: Shared security, tooling, and APIs remain the same.
  • Roadmap: Performance, security, and developer experience keep the same priority stack.
  • Community and programs: Existing community channels and initiatives continue under the new name.

What OpenGDP enables

OpenGDP is a high-performance L1 designed to bring real economic systems onchain with native market infrastructure:

  • Tokenization: Issue and manage onchain representations of financial instruments, services, and data.
  • Exchange: Built-in rails for price discovery, trading, and settlement with low latency and finality measured in seconds.
  • Coordination: Programmable workflows for privacy, interoperability, payments, clearing, and multi-party operations.
  • OpenGDP Network Stack (ONS): Create sovereign, bespoke blockchain networks powered by native primitives and shared security with turnkey validator sets for full-stack customizability, while inheriting OpenGDP interoperability.

For developers

  • Docs: Updated quickstarts and reference guides organized by task, not just by API.
  • Templates: Production-grade examples for tokenized securities, payments, and marketplace flows.
  • Tooling: One command local dev, faucet, and explorer links.

What's next: OpenGDP Devnet

We will announce OpenGDP Devnet shortly with the full quickstart, an interactive demo illustrating full-stack market infrastructure in action, and office hours. This keeps today focused on the brand story and gives you a clean runway to build the moment Devnet opens.

FAQ

Does anything break because of the rebrand?

No. Redirects are in place, and core endpoints remain stable. If you hard-coded Karak URLs, the redirects will handle them.

Is OpenGDP a different network or a reset?

OpenGDP is the evolution of Karak. Same team, same codebase lineage, clearer mission, and a broader surface for real-world economic use cases.

What about security and privacy?

Security practices, audits, and incident response remain unchanged. We continue to publish guidance and third-party security reviews as we progress.

How about the XP program?

The XP staking program continues for now, but will soon come to an end. Stay tuned for further updates.

Will there be a token change or new token?

Today’s announcement is about the brand and product direction. Any future token-related updates will be communicated in a dedicated post with full details and compliance materials.
